The Passion test

In the past 30 years I have read hundreds of self-help books. I usually felt very inspired while reading such a book, but once I’d finished it, I never really knew how to integrate what I’d read in my life.

Than I found the passion test! Already while reading it, I started to apply the ideas and steps suggested in the book and I eventually took myself through the passion test. And although I already had two children at that time, finding my five passions felt like I had birthed a third child; as if something that had been hiding inside of me for a very long time, finally saw the light of day and could take it’s rightful place in the world. It was an intense and wonderful experience and doing the passion test and following my passions has become my nr 1 guideline for life ever since.

Shortly after I discovered the book in 2009, I decided I wanted to share my passion for this powerful method with the world and I trained directly under Janet Attwood,  the co-author of the Passion Test, in her Passion Test Certification Program and became a certified Passion test coach and facilitator!

It has been a joy to take hundreds of people through the Passion Test in the past ten years, and I’m looking forward to help many more people find their passions and live a life of meaning, purpose and focus!

Your Happiness Set point and choosing your response

Researchers found out that every human being has a certain base line of happiness which is called the happiness set point. This happiness set point is determined by three components:

Contrary to what most people think, your circumstances are only responsible for 10% of your happiness: if something great and exciting happens in your life, you will experience a temporarily increase in your happiness, but after a few days, weeks or months, you will return to your happiness set point. Similarly, if something stressful or sad or traumatic happens to you, your level of happiness will decrease for a while but with time, you come back to the same happiness set point as before.

Apart from your circumstances, your happiness set point is further determined by your genes: 50% of how you feel is part of the package deal you receive at birth.

The exciting interesting and hopeful part lies in de remaining 40%.

This huge percentage that determines your happiness, comes from your own thoughts and behavior. In other words, the beliefs that you have, the thoughts that you nourish, the actions you take and the habits that you cultivate, all determine how happy you feel.

What this means, is that happiness can be learned. You can teach and train yourself to be happy by learning, practicing and cultivating the right thoughts and actions!

My work is greatly inspired on a quote from holocaust survivor Victor Frankl:

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In this space lies your power to choose your response. In your response lies your growth and your freedom.”

The one thing is life that is completely in your own hands and control is your response to whatever happens to you. Every moment is an opportunity and chance to either choose for drama, pain, anger or any other negative response, or to choose for a response that moves you towards happiness.

If you are ready, willing and eager to start choosing happiness, I am here to help and support you!

Thai yoga massage

21 years ago, in 1998, I received my very first Thai yoga massage in a small town in Thailand called Pai. I still remember the sheer delight I felt when the masseuse was pressing on the painful knots in my shoulders, there where it always hurted but that no one so far had been able to work on to my satisfaction.

Until this moment!

I remember how I was screaming inside: yes! Finally! This was the massage I had been longing for so many years without knowing it… I truly felt I had arrived in massage heaven…

I received many many more Thai massages after that first one and my love and fascination for it grew over the years. One time, during the massage, it hit me that I actually envied the masseuse for being able to give people this wonderful feeling. That was the moment I realized I very badly wanted to learn how to give this beautiful massage myself.

In 2003 I registered for a Thai massage training at the ITM in Chiang Mai and I have been giving Thai massages to hundreds of people ever since my certification! I still feel proud and grateful to have learned this beautiful massage.
